Coventry Open 2010 Report
Thanks to all who attended the Coventry Open and congratulations to the worthy winner Mark Calderbank. Mark came through a field of 42 entrants to take over from Peter Chan as Coventry Open Champion following his final win against Gary Brooker.

On his way to the final Mark had a bye into round two where he defeated Dan Tutchings. He went on to win against Diane Ward, Nicky Check and Andreas Sophocleous before defeating Gary in the final.
David Pritchard (who started playing at the Birmingham club this year) won the consolation event in his first ever tournament. He achieved six wins in that event including his final win against Nicky Check (coming from 6-2 down to win 7-6).
David’s only defeat of the tournament was in his first round match in the main event where he lost to Julian Fetterlein before claiming an impressive list of scalps on his way to the consolation win - (Irving Czechowicz, Neil Everitt, Mike Main, Michael Damianou, John Wright and Nicky in the final.
Rachel Rhodes won against Robert Perry in the final of the 5pt Last Chance event to continue her impressive Coventry tournament form.
There was an additional one point KO event with 16 entrants. John Tutchings came through to win against Annette Sutherland in the final.
All games were played in good spirit. I never had to consult my copy of Biba Rules as there were no disputes during the whole tournament - thanks to everyone for making it an enjoyable day.
